The Objective
To design four posters that promote a series of performances on the Mainstage at the new B Street Theatre. The performances are modern interpretations of Shakespeare. The posters must work as individual pieces, as well as a system.
The Solution
Each of these posters focuses on a main character from the play it is promoting. They are tied together as a series through the illustration style, monochromatic color palettes, emphasis of key elements of each play in a contrasting pop of color, and through the zoomed in camera angle of the characters bodies. Disclaimer, individual descriptions contain spoilers to plays.
Romeo and Juliet.
The character depicted is Juliet. Romeo and Juliet is about the tragic love story of two people, from feuding families, who fall in love and ultimately kill themselfs to be together. Red is the overall color to represent the death in the play. She is also stabbing the title, which also happens to be their names, to represent their deaths in the play.

A Midsummer Night's Dream.
The character illustrated is the fairy Queen, Titania. In the play, the fairy King Oberon pours juice from a pansy flower into the ear of various characters to make them fall in love with the first person they see upon awaking. Queen Titania is one of the characters effected. She is pouring the juice onto the title of the play to signify that viewers will fall in love with this play. Yellow is used as the main color for this poster because it is commonly associated with joy in Western culture, which is what you will feel while viewing this comedic play.

The Tragedy of Macbeth.
The character portrayed in this poster is Macbeth. In the play, he receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that he will become the King of Scotland one day. This causes him to kill the current king and take the throne himself. Once in power, he is destroyed by guilt and paranoia. Purple was used as the main color of this poster because in Western culture, purple is often associated with royalty. In this poster, Macbeth is pulling the crown to himself and holding it like a child. This represents the greed Macbeth possessed, as well as the impression the witches left on him being as if he were a child listening to his mother.
